Founder of Grace Nation, Pastor Chris Okafor, has announced that he is stepping away from the pulpit to embark on a personal retreat and spend time with his newly wedded wife, following weeks of public controversy.

The preacher made the announcement during the church’s New Year’s Eve service, telling congregants that the break would allow him to reflect spiritually and focus on his family as the new year begins.

Pastor Okafor came under intense public scrutiny in December 2025 after allegations were made against him by Nollywood actress Doris Ogala. In response, the cleric issued a public apology to his congregation, admitting to certain personal shortcomings while firmly denying other claims linked to the controversy. His apology, which included kneeling before church members, sparked widespread reactions on social media and within religious circles.

Clarifying his decision, Pastor Okafor stated that his withdrawal from regular preaching duties was not a permanent resignation but a temporary step back for prayer, reflection, and family time ahead of the 2026 church year.

As of press time, Grace Nation has not announced who will oversee regular services during his absence, but church officials indicated that activities would continue as scheduled.
