Popular dancer and socialite Iweh Odinaka, popularly known as Poco Lee, is expected to appear before a London court on September 15 over an alleged assault case.
The development was confirmed on Monday, August 24, 2026, by Benjamin Kuti, founder of the Community of Nigerians in the United Kingdom.
Kuti, popularly known as the Oluomo of Derby, said Poco Lee is currently being held on remand in the UK pending his next court appearance.
According to Kuti, he became aware of the case through his regular involvement in supporting Nigerians facing legal proceedings in the United Kingdom.
“I can confirm that the reports are true. Poco Lee is currently on remand in a UK prison,” Kuti said in a post on X.
He added that the dancer’s next court appearance is scheduled for the second week of September, when he is expected to enter a plea.
Kuti said he would attend the proceedings as part of his support for the Nigerian community in the UK, stressing the importance of allowing the legal process to run its course.
“It is important that we allow the legal process to take its course. Everyone is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law,” he said.
Speculation about Poco Lee’s alleged detention began circulating on social media on August 19, although the initial reports did not identify the complainant or provide details of the alleged incident.
At the time, UK police and court authorities had not publicly confirmed the reported arrest or disclosed whether formal charges had been filed.
