The management and legal team of Nigerian dancer and hypeman, Iweh Odinaka, popularly known as Poco Lee, have dismissed reports linking him to alleged drink spiking, saying the claims are not part of the allegations or charges before a United Kingdom court.
The clarification was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the dancer’s management amid public discussions surrounding his ongoing legal case.
The statement, signed by Adedoyin Faleye on behalf of the management, urged the public and media to exercise restraint and avoid commenting on details of the matter, which is currently before the court.
The team said, “Allegations are not evidence of guilt, and no conclusions should be drawn until the matter has been heard and determined through the appropriate legal process.”
Addressing reports about alleged drink spiking, the management said the claims were among several “unverified narratives” circulating online and did not form part of the case before the court.
“We are particularly concerned by the volume of unverified narratives currently circulating, including claims referencing ‘drink spiking,’ amongst other allegations which do not form part of any of the allegations or charges before the court,” the statement said.
The management further appealed to the media and the public not to introduce details that are not part of the case, warning that such reports could fuel misinformation and unfairly prejudice those involved.
It added that everyone involved in a legal proceeding is entitled to a fair hearing and for the matter to be determined through due process rather than public opinion.
PUNCH Online had earlier reported that Snaresbrook Crown Court confirmed that Poco Lee is scheduled to appear before the court on September 15, 2026, for plea and trial preparation in connection with an assault charge.
The court confirmed the date in correspondence with PUNCH Online on Tuesday, stating that the precise time and courtroom details would be made available on the day before the hearing.
The development followed earlier claims by the founder of the Community of Nigerians in the United Kingdom, Benjamin Kuti, popularly known as Oluomo of Derby, that Poco Lee was in a UK prison and was expected to appear in court in September.
However, the court’s correspondence confirmed only the date of the proceedings and did not disclose further details of the allegations beyond identifying the matter as being listed for plea and trial preparation.
Poco Lee has not been convicted of any offence, and the allegations against him remain subject to determination by the court.
