The Lagos State Police Command has uncovered a sophisticated indoor cannabis cultivation and processing facility at a residential property in Apapa, arresting a 49-year-old Polish national and a 36-year-old Nigerian in connection with the discovery.

The suspects, identified as Thomas Razvickas and James Chisom, were reportedly living at the property where the suspected cannabis farm was uncovered.

The operation was carried out on Monday, November 2, at about 8:15 a.m., following credible intelligence received by police operatives.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday, November 3, by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, operatives conducted a search of the premises and discovered a highly sophisticated indoor farming facility allegedly designed for the cultivation, harvesting and processing of cannabis.

The facility was reportedly equipped with specialised installations and equipment to support the different stages of cannabis production within the residential property.

Police said both suspects were arrested and taken into custody for interrogation. They reportedly made confessional statements and were providing useful information to investigators as efforts continued to establish the full extent of the operation and identify any other persons who might be connected to it.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, personally visited the scene to inspect the facility, assess the scale of the suspected illegal operation and receive a briefing on the ongoing investigation.

Fatai commended the operatives for their vigilance and effective use of intelligence, describing the operation as part of the Command’s commitment to tackling drug-related crimes and dismantling criminal networks operating in Lagos.

He also acknowledged the contributions of members of the public whose information helped the police uncover the facility.

The police commissioner urged residents to continue providing credible information to security agencies, stressing the importance of public cooperation in identifying and preventing criminal activities across the state.

The Command reiterated its resolve to sustain intelligence-led operations and ensure that individuals involved in drug-related offences are brought to justice.
