The Ogun State Police Command has launched a full investigation into a rape allegation made by popular TikToker, Mirabel, warning that she could face prosecution if the claim is found to be false.

Mirabel sparked widespread reactions online after posting emotional videos alleging that on Sunday, February 15, 2026, an unidentified man forced his way into her apartment in the Ogijo area of Ogun State. She claimed the attacker raped her, injured her with a blade, and forced her to ingest a poisonous substance.

Her videos quickly went viral, prompting outrage and calls for justice, as well as renewed conversations around the safety of women.

Initially, the (DSVA) stepped in following assumptions that the incident occurred in Lagos. However, after confirming that the alleged attack took place in Ogun State, the agency transferred the matter to the Ogun State Police Command for proper jurisdictional handling.

The police say they are treating the allegation with utmost seriousness and are committed to uncovering the truth. According to the Command, Mirabel has been asked to cooperate fully with investigators. Authorities reportedly offered medical and forensic examinations to aid the investigation, but sources indicate the process was not completed.

In a statement, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer warned that if the investigation reveals that the allegation was fabricated — such as evidence showing inconsistencies in her account, absence of forced entry, or contradictions in phone records and messages — the law would take its course.

The Command emphasized that false reports constitute a criminal offence, noting that such claims waste investigative resources and risk undermining genuine cases of sexual violence.

Meanwhile, the police have dismissed circulating social media reports alleging that Mirabel has been arrested and that her claims have already been proven false. They clarified that no arrest has been made and that investigations remain ongoing.

The case has generated intense public debate, with many advocating firm action against sexual violence, while others caution that unverified accusations can severely damage reputations and erode trust in legitimate victims.

The Ogun State Police Command assured the public of its commitment to justice and urged citizens to refrain from spreading unconfirmed information as the investigation continues. Further updates are expected as the probe progresses.
