The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 147 suspects during a coordinated raid on criminal hideouts across parts of the state as part of its ongoing Operation KO S’AYE III.
The operation, carried out at about 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, targeted identified criminal hideouts at Boolar, Super Ile-Epo and other black spots following credible intelligence, according to a statement issued on Monday by the command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi.
The police said operatives drawn from different formations of the command conducted the clearance operation to flush out hoodlums and other criminal elements terrorising the affected areas.
Items recovered during the raid included 250 expended cartridges, 22 machetes, five battle axes, two knives, a pair of scissors, a lighter, assorted charms and substances suspected to be Indian hemp.
The command said all 147 suspects are in police custody while investigations are ongoing to determine their individual involvement in criminal activities. It added that those found culpable would be prosecuted.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the operatives for their professionalism and dedication, reaffirming the command’s commitment to sustaining Operation KO S’AYE across the state.
He said the operation would continue to deny criminals safe havens and enhance the safety and security of residents.
Fatai also appealed to members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to assist the police in identifying criminal hideouts, arresting offenders and improving public safety across Lagos State.
