Popular Lagos socialite and nightclub owner, Mike Nwalie, popularly known as Pretty Mike, has been granted N50 million bail by the Federal High Court in Lagos after being arraigned on Thursday for alleged drug-related offences.
Pretty Mike, who owns Proxy Lagos Night Club, was arraigned alongside the club’s supervisor, 32-year-old Joachim Hillary. The Federal Government, through the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), brought a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy, unlawful possession of drugs, and permitting the use of the nightclub for illegal drug activities.
The alleged offences were said to have occurred on or about October 26, 2025, at the club located at No. 7 Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, Lagos. According to the NDLEA prosecutor, Buhari Abdullahi, the defendants conspired to organise a drug party at the nightclub, where agents reportedly recovered 200 grams of Cannabis Sativa and 177 cylinders of Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas), weighing a total of 364.662 kilograms.
The prosecution further alleged that Hillary was found in possession of 200 grams of Cannabis Sativa a day earlier, on October 25, without lawful authority. Pretty Mike, 45, was accused of allowing his facility to be used for drug-related activities in violation of the NDLEA Act.
Both defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Defence counsel, Dr. B.S. Awosika (SAN), sought bail for his clients, insisting they had no criminal history and posed no risk of evading trial. However, the prosecution opposed the request, arguing that adequate grounds for bail had not been established and called for an accelerated hearing.
Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa, in his ruling, held that the defendants were entitled to the presumption of innocence and that the prosecution did not provide compelling reasons to deny bail. He granted each defendant bail in the sum of N50 million with two sureties in like sum, who must also provide affidavits of means.
The court ordered that the defendants be released to their counsel pending the fulfilment of bail conditions and adjourned the case to January 14, 2026, for trial commencement.
