The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has responded to a fatal road crash at Okokomaiko, where a roadside hawker lost his life after being hit by a Lexus Jeep with registration number SMK 674 HY.
According to reports, LASTMA officials arrived at the scene shortly after the incident, secured the area, and evacuated the remains of the deceased from the roadway. The body was later handed over to officers of the Nigeria Police Force from the Ketu Division, who transported it to the Badagry Mortuary for further procedures.
In a separate incident at Ogudu inward Toll Gate, LASTMA personnel also responded to a collision involving a Mazda commercial bus (MUS 231 YA) and a Lexus Jeep (FKJ 23 HL). The crash left seven passengers injured.
Emergency response teams, including officers of the Ogudu Police Division and officials of the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS), were on ground to assist. The injured victims were evacuated to nearby medical facilities for treatment.
All vehicles involved in both incidents have been handed over to the police for investigation into the causes of the crashes.
The General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, urged motorists to exercise caution, adhere strictly to traffic regulations, and avoid excessive speed, especially during periods of low visibility.
He reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to improving road safety and ensuring effective traffic management across Lagos State.
