Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved the appointment of Prof Ayodeji Olawunmi Badejo as the new Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU).
Badejo, a Professor of Guidance and Counselling, succeeds Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, whose five-year tenure is coming to an end with her retirement.
Born on August 4, 1962, the new Vice-Chancellor obtained both her Ph.D. and Master of Education degrees in Guidance and Counselling from the University of Lagos (UNILAG).
Her appointment was announced in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso.
Badejo is expected to assume leadership of the university following the expiration of Olatunji-Bello’s tenure.
Olatunji-Bello became LASU Vice-Chancellor in 2021 and is completing her five-year tenure at the institution.
The appointment comes as LASU continues to expand its academic programmes, research activities and institutional development under the leadership of the state government.
