Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has declared Wednesday, August 20, a work-free day for all public servants in commemoration of this year’s Isese Day celebration.
The announcement was contained in a circular issued on Monday, August 18, by the Head of Service, Hakeem Muri-Okunola (correction: Huiel Bode Agoro as stated), and addressed to senior government officials, including the Deputy Governor, Speaker of the House of Assembly, Chief Judge, Commissioners, Local Government Chairmen, Permanent Secretaries, and Heads of State agencies.
According to the circular, the holiday underscores the governor’s commitment to promoting indigenous culture, tradition, and heritage, while also strengthening support for traditional institutions across the state.
“In reaffirming the commitment of the State Government towards promoting our indigenous culture, tradition, and preserving our heritage, Mr. Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has declared Wednesday, August 20, 2025, as a Work-Free Day for Lagos State Public Servants in commemoration of the Isese Day celebration,” Agoro stated.
He added that normal work activities would resume on Thursday, August 21, and directed Accounting Officers to ensure wide circulation of the information across all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.
