In a continued drive to ease traffic congestion and boost economic activities across Lagos, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu will commission two major road projects — the reconstructed Abaranje Road in Igando-Ikotun LCDA and the Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Old Dopemu) Road in Agege Local Government Area — on Wednesday, July 2.

These projects add to the 36 roads and five bridges already delivered by the administration this year, reinforcing its commitment to infrastructure-led development despite prevailing economic challenges.

The Old Dopemu Road, a vital bypass linking Akowonjo Road, Old Ipaja Road, and the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, traverses both Agege and Alimosho Local Government Areas. Similarly, the reconstructed Abaranje Road in Igando-Ikotun LCDA serves multiple communities within Igando — one of the largest settlements in Alimosho.

These road upgrades have significantly improved connectivity, reduced travel time, eliminated frequent flooding, and enhanced transportation flow. They are also expected to stimulate commercial activity and improve the economic well-being of residents.

Governor Sanwo-Olu reiterated his administration’s resolve to upgrade existing infrastructure and deliver new projects, in line with his promise to build a more livable and prosperous Lagos.
