The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has stated that Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, will not be removed as an ordained pastor of the church, amid ongoing public debate over her role.
Speaking during the November 2026 Monthly Holy Ghost Service, Adeboye addressed concerns surrounding her position, insisting that she has done nothing wrong and remains in good standing within the church.
He explained that Mrs. Tinubu’s ordination predated her husband’s rise to the presidency, noting that she became an Assistant Pastor more than a decade before President Bola Ahmed Tinubu contested for office.
Adeboye further emphasised that due process was strictly followed prior to her ordination. According to him, she completed all required stages, including baptismal classes, workers-in-training programmes, and the school of disciples.
The cleric also dismissed claims that her current political status violates church guidelines, stating that there has been no breach of doctrine or conduct that would justify disciplinary action.
Addressing calls from some quarters for her removal, Adeboye maintained that the church would not bow to external pressure, reiterating that the RCCG remains a place of worship open to individuals regardless of political affiliation.
“She did nothing wrong,” he said, underscoring the church’s position on the matter.
