Popular skit maker Esther Thomas, widely known as Sunshine Esther, has died following a brief illness, according to her colleague and partner, Chidera Madu.
Madu disclosed that the content creator began experiencing severe stomach pain on December 28, 2025, prompting her immediate transfer to Orchid General Hospital for medical attention.
According to him, Sunshine Esther was allegedly given only painkillers, with no comprehensive medical treatment administered. He further claimed that they were not informed that doctors at the facility were on strike, despite her condition continuing to deteriorate over several days.
Madu said concerns were raised after there was no noticeable improvement in her health, at which point they reportedly discovered that the hospital’s doctors had been on strike throughout their stay.
She was subsequently moved to a private medical facility, where tests revealed that she had a severely enlarged fibroid. Emergency surgery was carried out; however, complications reportedly arose after the procedure.
Sunshine Esther was later confirmed dead.
Her death has sparked widespread reactions online, with colleagues and fans expressing grief while raising concerns over alleged medical negligence and systemic failures in the healthcare sector.
As of the time of filing this report, no official statement has been issued by Orchid General Hospital regarding the allegations.
