A multiple-vehicle accident involving a fully loaded tanker and six other vehicles has caused severe traffic gridlock at the Otedola Bridge area of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, further worsening congestion on the already busy highway.
The accident occurred on the outward Lagos lane, inward Berger, bringing vehicular movement to a near standstill as commuters and motorists were left stranded for hours.
According to a statement from the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), no lives were lost in the incident. However, two persons sustained serious injuries and were immediately rushed to the hospital for urgent medical attention.
Emergency responders, including traffic officials and rescue teams, are currently on ground working to evacuate the damaged vehicles and manage the heavy congestion caused by the crash.
Authorities have advised motorists to exercise patience and, where possible, seek alternative routes as efforts continue to clear the scene and restore the free flow of traffic on the vital expressway.
