President Bola Tinubu and First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, on Thursday attended the Nigerian premiere of “MKO,” a documentary on the life and political legacy of late businessman, publisher and politician, Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola.

The premiere was held at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts in Iganmu, Lagos, as part of activities marking Nigeria’s 66th Independence Day.

A video shared by Tinubu’s Special Assistant on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, showed the President and First Lady arriving at the venue as a band played the national anthem.

Directed by Ose Oyamendan, “MKO” explores Abiola’s political career, his role in the struggle for the actualisation of the June 12, 1993 presidential election and the events surrounding its annulment.

The feature-length documentary uses archival materials and accounts linked to the June 12 struggle.

The Nigerian premiere follows its international screening at the Sheffield DocFest in the United Kingdom.
