President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to commission six major infrastructure projects executed by the administration of Babajide Sanwo-Olu during a two-day official visit to Lagos.

The projects, described as legacy initiatives of the Sanwo-Olu government, include the Ojota-Opebi Link Bridge, the Lagos State Geographic Information Service (LAGIS) Building, and the Lagos Multi-Agency Building located in Alausa, Ikeja.

Other projects lined up for inauguration are the Lagos Fresh Food Hub in Abijo, Ajah, the regenerated Tolu Schools Complex in Ajegunle, and the Maracana Stadium, which features 19 mini-football pitches built within the same community.
The State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, disclosed the details during a press briefing on Monday, noting that the commissioning ceremonies will take place on Wednesday and Thursday.

According to him, the projects reflect the state government’s commitment to improving infrastructure, boosting economic activities, enhancing mobility, and promoting social welfare across Lagos.

Omotoso said the Ojota-Opebi Link Bridge was designed to ease traffic congestion along key corridors such as Ojota, Maryland, Mende, Opebi, and Allen, providing a direct connection between Ikeja’s central business district and surrounding residential areas.

He added that the bridge project, originally conceived over two decades ago during Tinubu’s tenure as governor, was revived and completed by the current administration, highlighting continuity in governance.

On education, the commissioner explained that the Tolu Schools Complex in Ajegunle has been fully regenerated to accommodate about 20,000 students, with new classrooms, a vocational training centre, and facilities to support persons living with disabilities.

He further noted that the Lagos Fresh Food Hub in Abijo is expected to strengthen food distribution and improve access to fresh produce within the Eti-Osa corridor, while the Multi-Agency Building will enhance coordination among government institutions.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Systems, Abisola Olusanya, said the food hub would help decentralise food access beyond traditional markets.

Special Adviser on e-GIS, Olajide Babatunde, stated that the five-storey LAGIS building would serve as a one-stop centre for geospatial mapping, land administration, and urban planning services.

To ensure smooth movement during the president’s visit, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority will deploy over 500 personnel to manage traffic and minimise disruptions across the metropolis.

The state government assured residents of adequate security and logistics arrangements, urging the public to cooperate with authorities, especially in areas where temporary traffic diversions may be implemented.
