President Bola Tinubu has praised the Lagos State Government for raising the standard in project delivery, following the inauguration of key infrastructure projects across the state.

Tinubu, represented by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, on Wednesday commissioned the Ojota-Opebi Link Bridge, alongside the Lagos State Geographic Information Service (LAGIS) Building and the Lagos Multi-Agency Administrative Complex in Alausa.

The 5.04-kilometre Ojota-Opebi Link Bridge, originally conceived during Tinubu’s tenure as governor in 2002, was completed by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as part of efforts to address traffic congestion and improve mobility within the Ikeja-Maryland-Ojota corridor.

Speaking at the event, Tinubu described the bridge as more than just infrastructure, noting that improved vehicular movement is critical to economic productivity and better living standards in a densely populated city like Lagos.

According to him, the project reflects the state government’s commitment to prioritising the wellbeing of residents and tackling urban mobility challenges through sustained investment.

He also commended the development of the LAGIS Building, highlighting its role in modernising land administration through digital technology, which he said would enhance transparency, strengthen planning, and boost economic value.

The President further noted that the projects align with his Renewed Hope agenda, aimed at building a digitally driven and economically resilient nation. He urged other states to emulate Lagos in delivering people-focused infrastructure.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, in his remarks, said the projects were designed to address critical governance needs, including traffic management, land administration, and efficient public service delivery.

He explained that the Ojota-Opebi Link Bridge was built with modern features such as pedestrian walkways, bicycle lanes, solar-powered street lighting, and a comprehensive stormwater management system to tackle flooding along the Odo-Iya-Alaro corridor.

Sanwo-Olu added that the LAGIS Building would eliminate paper-based inefficiencies, strengthen property rights, and improve the ease of doing business in the state.

On the Multi-Agency Administrative Complex, the governor said the facility would enhance coordination and service delivery by housing multiple government agencies in one location, while also improving staff welfare.

He also announced the renaming of the complex to Bola Ahmed Tinubu Administrative Complex (BATAC), in recognition of the President’s contributions to Lagos’ institutional development.

The administrative facility, located within the State Secretariat in Alausa, sits on about 2.01 hectares and comprises four interconnected towers with over 7,362 square metres of office space, conference facilities, and parking for more than 300 vehicles.
