The Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will secure a second term in 2027, insisting that his administration’s achievements will earn him another mandate.
Alausa, who was recently appointed Director of Education Sector Mobilisation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, said opposition parties lacked credible programmes and the capacity to govern Nigeria.
He spoke on Tuesday during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where he accused opposition politicians of being driven by envy rather than offering constructive alternatives to the ruling party.
“Whatever nonsense these people (opposition) are talking is out of sheer envy. They can’t deliver, they have been tested, they have no clue of what to do for Nigerians,” he said.
The minister maintained that Tinubu was delivering tangible benefits to Nigerians and deserved re-election based on his administration’s performance.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will win his second term squarely based on his achievements,” Alausa declared.
He further argued that the president had transformed various sectors of the economy, adding that Nigerians should assess his administration based on its accomplishments.
Alausa also urged voters to disregard opposition parties, accusing them of promoting division without presenting a clear agenda for the country.
Highlighting developments in the education sector, the minister cited the Federal Government’s relationship with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) as evidence of progress under Tinubu.
According to him, the administration has fulfilled its agreement with the university lecturers and is working to ensure that students complete four-year degree programmes within the stipulated period.
He also pointed out that ASUU had not embarked on a strike since Tinubu assumed office, describing the development as a sign of improved industrial relations between the government and university workers.
