The police have arraigned two people before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing $7,000, valued at about N9.3 million, belonging to Veronica Akuete.
The defendants, Jenifer Yakubu, 22, and Samuel Thaddaeus, 29, were arraigned on Thursday before Magistrate Lateef Owolabi on two counts of conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, Josephine Ikhayere, told the court that the defendants allegedly conspired to steal the money in early 2026 at about 11:30 a.m. at No. 150A Lola Holloway, Omole Estate, Ojodu, Lagos.
She alleged that the defendants subsequently stole the $7,000 belonging to Akuete.
The offences contravene Sections 280(1)(a) and (b) and are punishable under Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The magistrate granted them bail of N600,000 each, with one surety each.
The court adjourned the case until November 24 for hearing.
