Two persons have been confirmed dead following a collision involving two trucks along the Cele inward section of the Oshodi–Apapa Expressway in Lagos State.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday by its spokesperson, Taofiq Adebayo.

According to Adebayo, the crash claimed the life of one of the truck drivers and another individual whose identity and reason for being at the scene could not be immediately determined.

He explained that the impact of the collision left the deceased driver trapped inside the steering compartment of his truck, requiring technical efforts by LASTMA’s Rescue and Recovery Team to remove the body.

LASTMA officials also conducted a search operation at the scene and recovered the second victim from beneath one of the trucks.

Adebayo noted that the operation was carried out in collaboration with the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), whose technical support facilitated the recovery process.
Authorities say investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing.
