Umahi: APC hopefuls free to buy forms in Ebonyi

The Minister of Works, Sen. David Umahi, has said APC hopefuls remain free to buy nomination forms for the 2027 general elections in Ebonyi.

He made this known in Abakaliki while responding to concerns over a consensus arrangement that stirred tension among party members.

“I have consulted President Bola Tinubu and Gov. Francis Nwifuru, and there was no directive from the president and the governor stopping any aspirant from purchasing nomination forms,” he said.

Umahi backed Gov. Nwifuru as the party’s preferred governorship candidate and urged aspirants to engage constructively.

He called on party leaders to adopt dialogue to reach an agreement among contenders and advised direct primaries where consensus fails.

“The governor should adopt dialogue and negotiations to reach a consensus among aspirants, and where it is not reached, direct primaries must take place,” he said.

He stressed unity as critical to electoral success and urged members to work together ahead of the polls.

“We have to keep the party we suffered to build together and ensure unity to attain huge votes,” he said.
