A young woman has sparked widespread outrage after releasing a tearful video alleging that she was raped inside her apartment in Lagos State in the early hours of Sunday, February 15, 2026, and later received threatening messages from the suspected attacker.

In the emotional video, the woman said she had battled insomnia for several nights and consumed alcohol in an attempt to sleep after returning home.
She narrated that after eventually falling asleep, she woke up to repeated knocks on her door on Sunday morning.

Believing it might be a neighbour in need, she said she opened the door, only for an unidentified man to allegedly force his way inside, causing her to hit her head and lose consciousness.

According to her account, she later regained consciousness to find the man restraining her, with her mouth covered, while she struggled unsuccessfully to call for help. She said the assault allegedly lasted several minutes and occurred at a time when many residents were away.

The woman further alleged that she later began receiving disturbing messages from someone she believes carried out the attack. Screenshots shared online show the sender allegedly admitting to planning the encounter, claiming to have tracked her movements, and boasting that his family’s wealth and influence could prevent the case from reaching court.

The alleged threats and intimidation have sparked anger on social media, with many Nigerians calling on security agencies to urgently investigate the claims, identify the suspect, and ensure justice is not obstructed by intimidation or claims of influence
