The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for Lagos East Senatorial District, Moshood Olanrewaju, has pledged to provide effective and quality representation if elected in the 2027 general elections.
Olanrewaju made the pledge in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Sunday.
He said his ambition was driven by the desire to promote good governance, improve the welfare of constituents and ensure that residents benefited from the dividends of democracy.
“Our people deserve representation that will prioritise their welfare and development,” he said.
The candidate said he would use his position in the Senate to pursue policies and initiatives aimed at improving living standards across the senatorial district.
He promised to make the interests of his constituents the centre of his legislative agenda and work with relevant stakeholders to attract development and opportunities to Lagos East.
Olanrewaju also pledged to remain accountable to the electorate by maintaining an open relationship with constituents and ensuring that their concerns received appropriate attention.
He urged residents of Lagos East to participate actively in the electoral process and make informed choices at the polls.
“The future of Lagos East depends on the quality of leadership we choose, and I urge our people to vote wisely,” he said.
He further pledged to facilitate infrastructural development, attract impactful projects and sponsor bills aimed at improving the lives of constituents.
Olanrewaju said youth empowerment would also be a priority, adding that he would pursue scholarship opportunities and initiatives to create an enabling environment for investment and economic growth.
He criticised loan-based education funding, saying he would favour scholarships as a way of supporting young people and reducing the burden of repayment after graduation.
The ADC candidate appealed to voters to support his candidacy, promising not to disappoint if entrusted with the mandate.
