A disturbing video showing the brutal assault of a student at Igbinedion Education Centre in Benin City, Edo State, has sparked widespread outrage after circulating on social media between March 13 and 14, 2026.

The footage captured a group of students violently attacking a younger boy on the school premises. In the video, a senior student is seen repeatedly flogging the victim with a belt while the boy lies helpless on the ground.

Another student joins the assault, kicking the victim and jumping on his ribs as he cries in pain. At one point, the attackers drag the boy across the ground, stomp on his chest, and continue beating him despite pleas from someone nearby urging them to stop.

A third student recorded the incident on a mobile phone, and the video later spread widely online, drawing condemnation from the public.
Following the backlash, the management of Igbinedion Education Centre announced disciplinary measures against those involved.

The school said two students identified as the main attackers had been expelled with immediate effect, reiterating that the institution maintains a zero-tolerance policy for bullying, cultism, intimidation, and violence.

School authorities also confirmed that the matter had been reported to security agencies and that they were cooperating fully with investigations.

In a related development, the Nigeria Police Force in Edo State invited the parents of the students involved for questioning.

Police authorities also urged the victim and his family to formally lodge a complaint to enable a full investigation into the incident.

Meanwhile, another video circulating online shows the moment the father of one of the alleged attackers arrived at the school to take his son away, as other students were heard booing.

Social media has also been awash with claims that the main attacker was allegedly flown abroad by his parents following the incident.

However, as of the latest verified reports, there is no confirmed evidence from the police or the school to support the claim. Authorities have not officially stated that any of the students involved has left the country.

The incident has reignited conversations nationwide about bullying, student violence, and accountability in Nigerian schools.
