A tragic road accident in Lagos has claimed the life of one woman and left four others seriously injured after two commercial Toyota Sienna buses collided on the Third Mainland Bridge early Tuesday morning.

The crash occurred near Iyana-Iworo and involved fully loaded vehicles. According to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), preliminary findings indicate that reckless driving by one of the drivers led to a head-on collision.

The agency’s spokesperson, Olawale Afolabi, confirmed that emergency responders were deployed shortly after the incident was reported around 7:26 a.m. Rescue teams arrived promptly to manage the situation, evacuate victims, and clear the wreckage.

All injured passengers were taken to a nearby trauma centre for urgent treatment, while officials from LASEMA, the police, and traffic authorities worked together to secure the scene and restore traffic flow.

LASEMA’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, described the accident as avoidable, urging motorists to obey traffic rules, avoid excessive speed, and maintain proper lane discipline to prevent similar tragedies.
