The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has deployed 10 new compactor trucks to strengthen waste evacuation operations and improve service delivery across Lagos State.
The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of LAWMA, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, said the trucks, donated by the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LSLGA), would significantly boost the Authority’s operational capacity and enhance waste collection efficiency.
Gbadegesin, who spoke during the deployment of the vehicles, described the donation as a demonstration of the Lagos State Government’s commitment to improving public service delivery through strategic collaboration among its agencies.
He thanked the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority for the support, noting that the additional compactors would strengthen LAWMA’s fleet at a time when the state’s growing population continued to place increasing demands on waste management services.
According to him, the investment in critical operational assets is essential to delivering more efficient and reliable waste management services while sustaining a cleaner, healthier and more liveable Lagos.
The LAWMA boss stressed that sustainable waste management required continuous investment in modern equipment, innovation and strategic partnerships, adding that environmental sustainability remained a shared responsibility.
He said the new compactors had been strategically deployed to critical operational corridors to complement the Authority’s existing fleet and improve waste evacuation across the state.
Gbadegesin assured residents that LAWMA would continue to optimise available resources, strengthen waste evacuation operations, intensify enforcement and deepen community engagement in pursuit of a cleaner and more sustainable Lagos.
He also called on public institutions and corporate organisations to partner with LAWMA by investing in waste management infrastructure capable of enhancing environmental sustainability and service delivery.
He reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to deploying modern equipment, embracing innovation and strengthening partnerships to meet the waste management needs of Africa’s fastest-growing megacity.
