Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has called on President Bola Tinubu to prevent alleged attempts by “desperate and rejected politicians” to disrupt or hijack collation centres during the state’s governorship election.

Adeleke, in a statement on Saturday as the collation of results commenced, urged the President to warn security agencies deployed to the state against any action capable of undermining the electoral process.

He expressed concern over reports of planned disruptions at collation centres, stressing that the votes of Osun residents must be protected and their mandate respected.

The governor appealed to the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services, Nigerian Army, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and other security agencies to ensure a peaceful and credible conclusion to the election.

He also urged the Independent National Electoral Commission to complete the collation process transparently and ensure that the final outcome reflects the will of the electorate.
