A major phase of the overhead bridge connecting Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, has been completed, marking another significant milestone in the ongoing rehabilitation and expansion of Nigeria’s premier international airport.

The Managing Director/Chief Executive of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, alongside members of the agency’s Management Team, inspected the completed phase of the bridge and other ongoing works at the airport.

The overhead bridge is a key component of efforts to improve connectivity between the two terminals and make movement within the airport more convenient for passengers.

When fully completed and operational, the bridge is expected to provide a more direct connection between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, reducing the need for passengers to navigate ground-level routes between the facilities.

The development is part of the broader rehabilitation and expansion programme aimed at improving infrastructure, passenger experience and operational efficiency at the MMIA.

The inspection also provided an opportunity for FAAN management to assess progress on other ongoing works within the terminal complex and ensure that construction activities remain aligned with the authority’s objectives for the airport.

The MMIA, Nigeria’s principal international gateway, has undergone a series of infrastructure upgrades in recent years as the Federal Government and FAAN seek to modernise airport facilities and bring them closer to international standards.

The completion of the latest phase of the overhead bridge therefore represents another step towards creating a more integrated terminal environment and a smoother travel experience for passengers using the airport.
