Lagos arrests 54 in Victoria Island, Lekki over environmental offences

In continuation of its commitment to sanitize the streets and communities, the Lagos State government carried out a raid on black spots in highbrow areas early on Monday morning.

In the process, at least 54 persons were arrested according to a statement by the Tokunbo Wahab, commissioner for environment and water resources.

“Over the night, our enforcement team actively patrolled critical areas across Lekki and Victoria Island, including Emma Abimbola Cole Street, Admiralty Way, Chevron Drive, Ligali Ayorinde, Alfred Rewane, and other hotspots,” the statement on X reads.

“During this operation, 54 individuals were arrested for violating established regulations. These efforts are part of our unwavering commitment to maintaining order, promoting public safety, and ensuring compliance with the environmental and social standards that define Lagos.

“We are determined to create a city where everyone can thrive within a safe and regulated environment. Let’s all play our part in building the Lagos of our dreams. Together, we will succeed.”
