Bola Shobowale, the Chairman of Ayobo-Ipaja Local Council Development Area (LCDA), has sadly passed away after a long battle with illness.

Her death comes after a nearly year-long absence from office due to health complications, which had created uncertainty within the LCDA.

Just three days before her passing, Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, appointed the council’s Vice Chairman, Oladipupo Oluwaloni, as the Acting Chairman to fill the leadership vacuum.

Shobowale was known for her dedication to grassroots development and community engagement, and her legacy will undoubtedly be remembered.

During her tenure, Shobowale made significant contributions to infrastructural development, social welfare, and economic empowerment within the Ayobo-Ipaja community.

The LCDA will now transition under Oluwaloni’s leadership, with stakeholders hopeful that the council will regain stability and continue Shobowale’s legacy of service.

Interestingly, Shobowale’s health issues had also raised concerns about the council’s financial management. In November 2024, a staggering N7.2 million was fraudulently withdrawn from the council’s account, allegedly facilitated through forged signatures.

The incident highlighted the need for transparency and accountability within the council.

As the LCDA moves forward, it’s essential to ensure that Shobowale’s vision for grassroots development and community engagement continues to guide the council’s actions.
