The Presidency has dismissed allegations made by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, claiming that he is being investigated by the EFCC over unsubstantiated financial dealings involving Lagos State.

The Presidency described the claims as “false” and “baseless,” stating that they reflect a pattern of relying on social media gossip over substance.

According to a statement on Friday by Special Adviser to the President, Bayo Onanuga, the allegations are an attempt to drag the Presidency and the Lagos State Government into fabricated controversies.

The statement emphasized that the EFCC operates independently and without external influence, and any insinuation otherwise is a disservice to the agency’s professionalism and the rule of law.

The Presidency urged Atiku to redirect his energy toward initiatives that foster unity, economic progress, and democratic stability, rather than spreading divisive rhetoric and unfounded accusations.

On Thursday, Atiku through his media office had accused the presidency of using the EFCC to link him to a campaign funding from the Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-olu-inaugurates-school during the 2023 election campaign.
