Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has stated that he remains undistracted by recent social media attacks and insinuations targeting his family, affirming his commitment to delivering on the ARISE Agenda and upholding his social contract with the people of the state.

Speaking to Government House correspondents at the Ibom Hotel and Golf Resort, Uyo—during the 60th birthday celebration of former Deputy Governor, Obong Nsima Ekere—Governor Eno addressed the trending video involving his family.

“We are in political times, so this is expected. My family is intact—you can see everyone here with me,” the Governor said.

He clarified that the video in question was recorded shortly after the passing of his late wife last year, questioning the timing of its resurfacing.

“The event in question happened immediately after my wife passed away. That was last year. So why is it surfacing now, on the eve of our second anniversary in office, just as we celebrate the milestones we’ve achieved?” he asked.

The Governor described the video’s circulation as a clear act of distraction and political mischief.

“This shows there are detractors around. But again, my family is intact. You can see Jane here herself, and that’s Helen and her husband. We are a close-knit family,” he emphasized.

He also appealed to the public to avoid reopening painful wounds.

“The pressure on children after losing a loved one can be traumatic. I appeal to the public: please don’t revive sad memories. It’s enough that I lost my wife. Let her peaceful soul rest in peace.”

Governor Eno reiterated that no amount of character assassination will derail him from his responsibilities.

“I cannot be distracted. I remain focused and will continue to serve the people of Akwa Ibom. I don’t wish what happened to me on anyone. And for those spreading this video—if that’s what they wish for themselves, I wish them luck.”

He used the occasion to extend heartfelt congratulations to Obong Nsima Ekere on his 60th birthday, praying that God will continue to strengthen him and bless him with long life, good health, and the wisdom to contribute meaningfully to the development of Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria.
