The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has announced the postponement of new charges and penalties for document downloads on its upgraded registration portal to September 1.
In a public notice released on Monday in Abuja, the Commission said the deferment was due to transitional challenges encountered by users since the launch of the new digital platform.
The enforcement—initially slated to begin on August 1—includes charges for documents not downloaded within seven days of approval.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that users have experienced issues such as:
- Difficulty downloading approved documents
- Payment processing glitches
- Hitches with post-incorporation filings for business names
- Problems uploading required documents
“We are working tirelessly, alongside our technical partners and stakeholders, to stabilise the system without shutting down the entire portal,” the Commission stated.
The CAC explained that the postponement is a temporary relief to support businesses and ensure a smoother transition to its AI-powered registration platform.
It added that the adjustment was made in response to feedback from customers and stakeholders nationwide.
The Commission launched the upgraded digital portal on June 30 as part of its ongoing reforms to enhance service delivery and reduce delays in business registration processes.
“We appreciate your patience and understanding,” the notice concluded.
