Burna Boy, Shakira and Uganda’s Ghetto Kids have begun rehearsals ahead of their performance at the first-ever FIFA World Cup final halftime show on Sunday
Grammy-winning Afrobeats star Burna Boy, Colombian pop icon Shakira and Uganda’s renowned Ghetto Kids have begun rehearsals ahead of their highly anticipated performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup final halftime show.
Videos circulating on social media show the artistes performing dance routines alongside members of the Ghetto Kids, building excitement ahead of Sunday’s final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, United States.
The halftime show, scheduled for July 19, will be the first Super Bowl-style performance ever staged at a FIFA World Cup final.
Spain will face Argentina in the championship match, with millions of football fans worldwide expected to tune in.
Shakira and Burna Boy recently released “Dai Dai,” the official song of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to FIFA, royalties from the song will be donated to the Global Citizen Education Fund, which aims to raise $100 million before the end of the tournament to expand access to quality education and football opportunities for children around the world.
The Ghetto Kids, a celebrated dance troupe made up of orphaned and vulnerable children from the Katwe slums in Kampala, Uganda, rose to international fame through their energetic performances and appearances on global talent shows.
The group was earlier invited by Shakira to join the historic halftime performance.
The show is expected to blend music, dance and football in what is anticipated to be one of the most-watched sporting broadcasts in the world.
