The African Democratic Congress [ADC] Chairman, Patrick Obianyo, has halted all congress activities in Anambra State following internal consultations held by the party leadership.
The party announced the decision in Awka on Wednesday through a joint statement signed by Obianyo and Secretary Lawrence Okeke.
It explained that the suspension reflects the party’s commitment to legal procedures, due process, and respect for judicial authority, saying it aimed “to underscore its commitment to the rule of law, due process, and respect for judicial authority.”
ADC directed members and stakeholders to remain calm and continue lawful engagement while awaiting further directives.
The leadership added that it will release new dates for congresses and conventions after concluding ongoing national consultations and meetings.
It reaffirmed that the Obianyo-led committee retains full authority over party affairs in the state.
The party also cautioned the Independent National Electoral Commission and the public against recognizing any unauthorized announcements or directives.
ADC urged members to sustain unity, discipline, and order throughout the period of suspension.
