A Lagos High Court has ordered a businesswoman and former NTA staff, Olufunke Otti, to return a prime property in Ikoyi to her ex-husband, Chief Isaac Morakinyo Jolapamo, following a protracted legal battle.
In a judgment delivered on March 26, 2026, in suit No. LD/3034LM/2022, Justice Olufolake Olufolashade Adewunmi-Oshin ruled that the property located at 23A & B Olusegun Aina Street, Parkview Estate, rightfully belongs to Chief Jolapamo. The court directed Ms. Otti to relinquish ownership.
The court also ordered her to refund N410,347,000, being the outstanding balance from the sale of two vessels, and to pay N63,000,000 as rental income collected between 2018 and 2021. Additionally, N5 million was awarded against her as general damages.
The dispute stemmed from the couple’s marriage, which began after they met at the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries. They were legally married on February 23, 2017, at the Federal Marriage Registry in Ikoyi.
During the marriage, Chief Jolapamo entrusted Ms. Otti with selling two vessels—M.T. MOR Prosperity and M.T. Power—and using the proceeds to acquire a matrimonial home. Although she purchased the property, she registered it solely in her name without his consent.
The issue surfaced after Ms. Otti informed him via WhatsApp that she no longer wished to continue the marriage and asked him to vacate the house, triggering a legal dispute. The couple separated in 2019, and their marriage was formally dissolved in April 2025.
The latest ruling brings the matter to a close, with the court affirming Chief Jolapamo’s ownership of the property and awarding him financial restitution.
