A minitruck carrying tomatoes lost control due to brake failure on Otedola Bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Thursday, causing a multi-vehicle collision.
Eyewitnesses reported that the truck veered off the road, striking several vehicles on the bridge. Fortunately, a family in one of the affected cars escaped without injury.
Otedola Bridge is known as one of Lagos’ major accident blackspots, frequently affected by truck mishaps, brake failures, and structural concerns. The bridge has a history of serious accidents, including tanker explosions, container falls, and multi-vehicle collisions.
Last year, a crash on the bridge resulted in the deaths of three family members in an Audi-truck collision. Another incident in April involved a vehicle falling off the bridge, leaving the driver seriously injured.
Authorities continue to warn drivers and enforce safety measures, particularly for trucks, to prevent further accidents on the busy expressway.
