The Federal Government has signed an agreement to deploy the VPass E-Gate System, effectively ending manual passenger checks at local airports across Nigeria.

With the introduction of the biometric system, travellers will no longer need to present physical documents at entry points. Instead, facial recognition technology will be used to identify passengers instantly, enabling faster and contactless access into airport terminals.

The agreement was signed at the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development in Abuja, involving key stakeholders responsible for implementation across airports managed by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, described the initiative as a major step toward improving airport security and enhancing passenger experience through digital innovation.

The VPass E-Gate system is expected to reduce congestion, strengthen security, improve operational efficiency, and provide a more seamless travel process for passengers nationwide.
