The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has successfully contained multiple overnight fire outbreaks across the state, with the most significant incident recorded at the Tower Aluminium Village in the Agege area.
The blaze broke out around 10:46 p.m. on Friday along Abeokuta Expressway in Dopemu, affecting several offices and stores within the industrial complex. Firefighters from Ikeja and Agege stations responded promptly, bringing the situation under control and preventing a wider disaster.
According to the agency’s Controller General, Margaret Adeseye, the fire impacted structures covering about 2,592 square metres within a larger four-acre facility. Parts of the buildings and goods stored inside were significantly damaged.
Hours later, at about 3:15 a.m. on Saturday, another fire incident occurred in Yaba, involving a three-storey commercial building on Oyabiyi Street in the Tejuosho area. The building, which housed textile shops and storage spaces, was engulfed by flames before emergency responders intervened.
Fire crews from Somolu, Ilupeju, and Sari Iganmu stations were deployed to the scene and successfully contained the fire, preventing it from spreading to nearby structures.
The fire service confirmed that both incidents were managed without any loss of life. Authorities have commenced investigations to determine the causes, while also urging residents and business owners to adhere strictly to fire safety measures, especially in areas where flammable materials are stored.
