Catalysing Strengthened Policy Action for Healthy Diets and Resilience (CASCADE) Nigeria has said it restored nutrition corners and facility gardens in Kebbi State to strengthen health and nutrition services.

The organisation explained that the restoration took place on Tuesday in Bunza Local Government Area through a partnership with FAcE-PaM and funding support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands.

Mr. Agamalafiya Jonathan, CASCADE’s Health and Nutrition Technical Officer, said the team rehabilitated gardens and nutrition corners in Birnin Kebbi, Argungu, Bunza, and Suru Local Government Areas, covering Gulumbe, Bunza, Dakin Gari, and Felende Primary Healthcare Centres.

Jonathan added that the project supplied cooking utensils, tables, chairs, whiteboards, markers, weighing scales, height boards, and measuring tapes to enhance nutrition education.

He urged women to use the knowledge gained, set up home gardens with vegetables such as tomatoes and peppers, and share the practices with their families and neighbours.

He said the effort aimed to tackle malnutrition, promote exclusive breastfeeding, and improve family health across the communities.

Mustapha Abdullahi, Officer in Charge of Bunza Primary Healthcare Centre, advised mothers not to give water to infants under six months, warning that it could weaken their immunity.

He noted that the exercise reflected the commitment of health workers, development partners, and communities to building stronger, healthier families in the state.
