A suspected kidnapping incident has heightened concerns over residential security in Lagos after a woman was abducted from her home in the early hours of Tuesday.

Mrs. Olanike Ogundare was reportedly taken around 1:00 a.m. from her residence at No. 1 Olufemi Ogundare Street in the Oke Agaye area of Ijedodo.

Eyewitness accounts indicate that the assailants carried out a coordinated attack, overpowering the security guard on duty at gunpoint before forcefully taking the victim to an undisclosed location.

The case has been reported to the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS), while community leaders and local security groups have been mobilised to support efforts aimed at securing her release. Among those involved is Gani Adams, leader of the Oodua People’s Congress.

Sources close to the family disclosed that the abductors have made contact twice, demanding a ransom of ₦60 million.

The incident, which occurred within a secured residential compound, has intensified fears among residents about the increasing audacity of criminal elements in the state.

Stakeholders are urging security agencies to act swiftly, deploy intelligence-driven operations, and ensure the safe rescue of the victim while bringing the perpetrators to justice.
