Lagos State Deputy Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Obafemi Hamzat, has urged party members to base the 2027 election campaign on verifiable achievements, data and policy records rather than emotions.
Hamzat spoke on Friday at the inauguration of the Lagos APC Campaign Council at the party secretariat on Acme Road, Ogba, Lagos.
He said the party had a strong record under President Bola Tinubu and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, which members should confidently present to voters.
“It is not about emotion. It is about data. It is about records. We must be able to tell our people what we have done, what we are doing and what we intend to do,” he said.
Hamzat cited reforms in taxation, infrastructure, agriculture and security, saying the achievements should form the basis of the party’s engagement with the electorate.
He also highlighted major infrastructure projects, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, as evidence of the Tinubu administration’s commitment to long-term economic development.
The deputy governor described Lagos as critical to Nigeria’s economic growth because of its significant contribution to the national economy.
He stressed the need for continuity in governance and urged party members to intensify grassroots mobilisation by engaging communities, friends, neighbours and religious groups.
Hamzat said the party must translate its support base into actual votes through sustained engagement at the grassroots.
The Director-General of the Lagos APC PBAT/KOH 2027 Campaign Council, Musiliu Obanikoro, urged members to put aside personal grievances and work together.
Obanikoro said the campaign required discipline, organisation, sacrifice and commitment, urging members to operate as one team.
The Lagos APC Chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, said the party would adopt a decentralised grassroots strategy involving leaders and members across senatorial districts, local government areas, wards and polling units.
Ojelabi said the strategy would focus on “Operation Man Your Polling Booth,” with the party targeting mobilisation across the state’s 13,565 polling booths.
He said the party’s target was to secure five million votes from a projected seven million votes in Lagos State, adding that coordinated grassroots mobilisation would be central to achieving the objective.
