Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has claimed that the widely celebrated reunion with his twin brother and former P-Square bandmate, Paul Okoye (Rudeboy), was never a genuine reconciliation, describing it as a “fake reunion.”
Speaking in a lengthy video shared on his official Instagram page, Mr P recounted the circumstances that led to the brothers briefly reuniting after years of public disagreements, insisting that while he wanted to rebuild their relationship as family, he never intended to revive the P-Square music group.
The twin brothers split in 2017 after a series of disputes involving family and business matters. Although they reunited in 2021, their relationship later deteriorated again amid fresh disagreements involving their elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye.
According to Mr P, the reconciliation process began after he returned to Nigeria from Atlanta and received a message from his caretaker informing him that Paul had apologised and wanted forgiveness.
“It was a fake reunion. I came back from Atlanta. Before we descended, I got a message from my caretaker that I should forgive Paul because he had apologised,” he said.
He explained that he initially tried to reach Paul by phone without success. However, on arriving home, he found members of Paul’s team waiting at his residence.
Mr P also revealed that his wife informed him that Paul had visited their home around 4 a.m. while he was away and appeared emotionally distressed.
“My wife came back and held me and told me that Paul came to the house at 4 a.m. and was scared. She recorded the situation. She said Paul kept saying he was tired,” he recalled.
He said he was encouraged to take the next step since Paul had already made the first move by apologising.
“I was told that since Paul had made the first move, I should make the second move. I walked to Paul and we hugged,” he said.
According to Mr P, news of their reconciliation quickly spread within the family after Jude Okoye’s wife informed Jude that the brothers had settled their differences.
Despite the emotional embrace, Mr P insisted that he never agreed to revive P-Square.
He recalled that the following day, after posting a promotional video for his new song, Paul told him he wanted them to focus on bringing back the iconic music duo.
“I posted a video of my new song. He asked about it, and I asked if he had plans. He said he wanted to focus on P-Square. I told him we are back as brothers, but I am not part of P-Square,” Mr P said.
He further alleged that Jude later proposed making a public video announcing their reunion to excite fans.
“Jude then called and asked that we make a video so that fans could celebrate us. I did not believe in it. We did it, but we did not make the introduction as P-Square,” he said.
While fans widely celebrated the reunion, Mr P said he remained uneasy because of a statement Paul allegedly made during a gathering that same night.
“He said, ‘Peter, I do not care if you like what I am about to say or not, but fk Rudeboy, fk Mr P, bring back P-Square.'”
Mr P maintained that his only goal had always been to restore peace within the family, not to resurrect the P-Square brand.
“He said that when I never wanted P-Square. I just wanted us to come back as family,” he added.
