The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the deadline for the completion of 2025 admissions into public universities from Friday, October 31, to Monday, November 17, 2025.

In a statement issued on Monday in Abuja, the Board’s spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, said the extension became necessary due to recent developments that affected the initial schedule.

He explained that a court ruling directing all parties to maintain the status quo on the 2025/2026 admission list only received clarity with the lifting of the order on October 28, 2025. Additionally, the National Universities Commission (NUC) recently accredited 229 new programmes for 37 universities on October 29, further necessitating adjustments to the timeline.

Benjamin commended public universities for their diligence and commitment toward meeting the earlier deadline, which was originally intended to give polytechnics, colleges of education, and other tertiary institutions time to complete their admissions processes before the overall national deadline of December 31, 2025.

He stressed that the newly approved date is final and urged institutions to ensure strict compliance.

“In light of these developments, and to ensure fairness and inclusiveness, the Board hereby extends the deadline for the completion of 2025 public university admissions to Monday, Nov. 17, 2025,” he stated.

Benjamin assured that JAMB remains committed to a smooth and credible admission exercise that respects institutional autonomy while aligning with national education objectives.
