The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has revoked the licences of several underperforming Private Sector Participation (PSP) operators and restructured waste collection routes across parts of Lagos State to improve service delivery.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the agency’s Director of Public Affairs, Mukaila Sanusi, said the move followed a comprehensive operational review aimed at aligning operators’ capacity with the state’s growing waste management demands.

LAWMA’s Managing Director and CEO, Muyiwa Gbadegesin, explained that the affected operators failed to meet required service standards, making the withdrawal necessary to safeguard public health and environmental sustainability.

Operators impacted by the decision include Kenny JPS in Igando-Ikotun (Egan II), Clean Craft Nigeria Limited in Igando-Ikotun (Isheri-Oshun I), Doveroost Ltd in Eti-Osa West, Dewayls in Ojo (Ijegun Emure), and Pesjoy Ventures in Ejigbo (Bucknor II).

The agency also introduced route realignment in fast-developing areas experiencing increased waste generation. Under the new arrangement, existing operators will retain portions of their routes, while additional firms have been deployed to support operations.

Operators affected by the realignment include Shekaz Global Limited in Isolo (Ishaga/Ire Akari axis) and Krestabol Waste Management in Ikorodu (Lowa). Meanwhile, some operators voluntarily relinquished their routes, enabling LAWMA to assign those areas to firms with stronger operational capacity. These include Ayolade Oluwabukola Enterprises in Lagos Island East (Ajele axis) and Imperium Waste Services in Ayoobo/Ipaja (Slot B).

Gbadegesin described the restructuring as a strategic step to strengthen the PSP framework, enhance accountability, and ensure waste management services keep pace with Lagos’ rapid urban growth. He urged residents to cooperate with newly assigned operators and to patronise only LAWMA-accredited PSP firms.

He reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to continuous monitoring, enforcement, and stakeholder engagement to achieve a cleaner and more sustainable Lagos.
