Two students of Lagos State Model Junior College, Igbonla, Epe, along with their teacher, narrowly escaped death in a road accident that occurred in the Onipanu area of Lagos.
The incident happened around 6 p.m. and involved a collision between two speeding vehicles on the expressway. According to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the crash involved a Honda Accord with one occupant and a Suzuki Alto conveying a teacher and two students.
The impact of the collision forced one of the vehicles into the opposite lane, causing significant damage to both cars.
Despite the severity of the accident, no lives were lost. However, the two students—identified as Animashaun Ridwan and Ogunbamowo Michael, both in JSS 2—reported head and eye discomfort. Emergency responders provided immediate first aid, stabilised them, and later handed them over to their parents.
The teacher, Mr. Joseph, a Basic Technology instructor at the school, was also safely evacuated from the scene without serious injury.
Emergency officials secured the area and removed the damaged Suzuki Alto to prevent further incidents. Both vehicles have been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for investigation.
LASEMA has reiterated the importance of adhering to traffic regulations, urging motorists to avoid speeding and prioritise safety on the roads.
