Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have raided three illicit drug warehouses in the Okota area of Lagos, recovering opioids valued at over N16.9 billion.

The intelligence-led operations, carried out on Friday, April 17, 2026, targeted locations within Park View Estate, Ago Palace. A major warehouse was uncovered at 98 Olukayode Awofisayo Street, alongside two others at 5 Charles Ndumetu Street.

During the raids, officials seized 2,360,000 pills of high-potency tramadol (225mg) and 1,909,400 bottles of codeine syrup. The recovered items were stored in 19,094 cartons of codeine and 34 cartons of tramadol, bringing the total street value to N16,927,200,000.

Reacting to the operation, NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), described the seizures as a major breakthrough against drug trafficking networks. He said the scale of the recovery underscores the agency’s growing intelligence capacity and determination to stay ahead of criminal cartels.

Marwa commended the operatives for their professionalism and precision, noting that the discovery of such large quantities within residential areas highlights both the boldness of traffickers and the effectiveness of NDLEA’s surveillance.

He reaffirmed that no location in Nigeria will serve as a safe haven for drug traffickers, warning that the agency will continue to dismantle networks and weaken their financial base.

“We will find you, dismantle your operations, and bring the full weight of the law upon you,” he said.
