Pastor Chris Okafor, founder of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, reported to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, in Tuesday for questioning, after initially ignoring a police invitation. Sources say the preacher acted following warnings from influential individuals about the consequences of defying lawful orders.

Okafor’s earlier refusal to appear was linked to an ongoing investigation involving his estranged partner, actress Doris Ogalla, at the AIG Zone 2 Command in Onikan. Accused by multiple women—including his daughter, former partners, and church members—of sexual misconduct, abuse of authority, and alleged murder, Okafor reportedly believed he could disregard subsequent invitations from other police units.

A senior police officer revealed that while Okafor’s statement was recorded, he was not detained due to the absence of complainants. Efforts to encourage victims to come forward—including offering protection and transport—were unsuccessful. The Lagos Police Command has deferred further action to allow the Zone 2 investigation to proceed.

The pastor had been formally invited by the Lagos State Police Command on January 3, with a directive to appear by 10 a.m. on Monday, which he initially rebuffed. The controversy escalated following allegations from Ogalla regarding a broken marriage promise, accompanied by audio-visual evidence that drew public outrage.

Okafor, who married his new wife Pearl on December 16, initially denied wrongdoing but later admitted to some allegations, issued a public apology to his congregants, and stepped aside as senior pastor of the church.
