The Lagos State Police Command has arrested several suspected hoodlums following a viral video showing armed youths causing panic along a major road in the Lekki area of Lagos.

The footage captured chaotic scenes, with young men reportedly wielding machetes and cutlasses as they ran across lanes and medians. Motorists swerved to avoid them while pedestrians fled, leading to a significant disruption of traffic in broad daylight.

The incident sparked concern among residents over safety in one of Lagos’ busiest commercial and residential districts, highlighting ongoing worries about street gang activity.

In response, the police said they acted swiftly to contain the situation and restore order, assuring the public that security measures are in place.

Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed that a sting operation carried out between Chisco and Osakpa bus stops led to the arrest of several suspects. He noted that the move reflects continued efforts to safeguard lives and property across the state.
