Return to PDP fold, Makinde camp tells Wike supporters

Convener of the Seyi Makinde Disciples political support group, Mr. Laja Adeoye, have asked allies of Nyesom Wike to return to the recognised leadership structure of the Peoples Democratic Party as party leaders intensify efforts to resolve the lingering internal dispute.

Adeoye made the call in Lagos while addressing the rift involving members of a caretaker committee associated with the Wike camp.

He urged Mohammed Abdurahman and Samuel Nwanyanwu to pursue reconciliation and reconnect with the party structure recognised under the PDP constitution.

Adeoye expressed optimism about efforts to restore unity within the party.

“We are hopeful that all the issues within the party will soon be put behind us.”

”The PDP remains a big family with room for everyone,” he said.

He insisted that the caretaker committee linked to the Wike faction does not align with the party’s legal framework.

“The National Caretaker Committee is not recognised by the law or the party’s constitution, and that position has been clearly stated,” Adeoye said.

He urged suspended national officers to take advantage of what he described as an opportunity for reconciliation.

“The Wike camp now has the opportunity to return home.”

”The PDP is opening its doors to suspended national officers willing to reintegrate,” he said.

Adeoye said cooperation among party members would strengthen reconciliation efforts.

“If they return with remorse and a willingness to work with others, reconciliation will succeed and the party will move forward,” he said.

He linked the renewed reconciliation drive to a recent pronouncement by the Court of Appeal sitting in Ibadan.

“The Appeal Court in Ibadan urged all parties to accommodate one another. That is a positive signal for the future of the party,” Adeoye said.

He noted that the judgment also addressed actions taken by suspended members of the party’s National Working Committee, including the formation of a caretaker committee.

Adeoye urged party leaders to treat the development as an opportunity to rebuild unity instead of prolonging the dispute.

He pointed to cooperation among leaders such as Seyi Makinde and Bala Mohammed as a step toward strengthening the party ahead of future elections.

Adeoye also spoke about politics in Lagos State, saying the PDP had stepped up mobilisation to regain political control in the state.

“In Lagos State, the time has come for leadership that will make the state’s wealth work for the common people,” he said.

“The PDP will return Lagos to its people. The APC-led government has not adequately accounted to residents.”

“We will provide transparent leadership and deliver massive development across Lagos State,” Adeoye added.

Adeoye expressed confidence that unity among party leaders and support from voters would reposition the PDP ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The reconciliation call followed a ruling delivered on Tuesday by the Court of Appeal, which affirmed an earlier judgment by Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja.

The decision nullified the PDP national convention held in Ibadan on Nov. 15–16, 2025, which produced a National Working Committee led by Kabiru Turaki.

The appellate court also upheld the suspension of three principal officers, including National Secretary Samuel Nwanyanwu, who aligned with the Wike-backed faction.
